One of the most popular garden shrubs, roses will grow in almost any soil and they are virtually all hardy.

With hundreds of varieties to choose from, there are basically six types each with a distinctive growth habit; theses include bush, shrub, climbing, rambling, miniature and patio roses.

Within these types, roses can be chosen for the beauty of their flowers, perfume or for historical or social reasons such as a loved one’s name.

Before buying your rose, take a little time to consider where it is going to grow and the size it is likely to attain. Then all you have to do is choose the colour!
