House Plants

House Plants
Our houseplant display always looks particularly attractive. We have a super selection of plants for cool rooms, conservatories, bathrooms and boudoirs. Most of which are easy to look after and require only basic maintenance and not too much love and attention.
Orchids: Despite what you may have been led to believe, Orchids are not difficult to look after so long as a few simple rules are followed:
In very general terms, Orchids prefer to grow in damp, misty woodland areas. They get their nutrients not from the soil but for example from the rotting trees on which they live. So you need to try and recreate these conditions in your home! But before you drag a rotting log into your lounge try these handy hints.

Orchids need a lot of light but not direct sunlight, they need to be warm during the day and cold at night and as long as they are kept in damp soil less compost such as bark chippings they should be happy. As a rule of thumb, leaves should be a pale grass colour. If the leaves are dark green the plant is not getting enough light. An east facing window near the sink is a nice spot as the Orchid benefits from the steam to keep it misted. But be careful as Orchids don’t like water to rest on their leaves.
To keep your Orchids happy we have plant food, pots and misters and a beautiful selection of bowls in all colours, shapes and sizes.
