Before considering the plants you want to buy it’s always a good idea to think about what you want from your garden in general.

The best way to do this is to make a simple plan. You can take measurements if you want but a good idea is just to draw the areas that you have and include walls, fences, paths and any large shrubs or trees and the general direction i.e. south facing. Then plan what plants you want in the areas that are best suited to their needs.
