Pots and Containers

Welcome to Terracotta

Extensive range of terracotta pots available at Planters At Bretby Garden Centre.

Pots and Containers

Whether you have a garden or not, pots and containers are a great way to increase the number of plants you can accommodate around the outside of your home, your business premises, or cricket club. In fact wherever there is a space large enough to site a pot, you can grow a huge variety of flowers, vegetables, herbs or shrubs.

As the range of plants available for containers has increased, so the range of containers has also increased. The choice is virtually endless and no longer relies on the traditional giant terracotta plant pot.

At Bretby, our pots and containers are sourced from around the world to bring you the best choice at the very best value. We have glazed pots, clay pots, frost proof containers and all manner of colours, shapes and sizes to choose from.

We also have everything you’ll need to get you started; a huge range of plants, compost, fertilizers, food, grit and pest control solutions. And of course, we sell a variety of watering cans and watering systems.

When preparing your containers, don’t try to cram too many plants into your container or pot, as, generally speaking, fewer plants will produce better blooms and last longer; they will also tend to fill the space available once established. And don’t skimp on the compost; a good quality compost will help keep your plants healthy and will provide vital nutrients for up to the first four weeks.

One final thing – keep your containers well watered especially if you are using an unglazed ceramic pot as the clay will tend to draw the water away from the compost and it will then evaporate from the pot’s surface. A surface dressing of grit or small stones will also help keep the compost from drying out.

Here are some container plants that you can buy as plugs or small plants. You can either plant in profusion for a riot of colour or pick a single colour or plant variety for a dramatic, classical effect.
